CHGPM Lecture – Dr. James Bonham

The Center for Human Genomics and Precision Medicine invites you to attend a lecture by Dr. James Robert Bonham, former Laboratory Director of Newborn Screening at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and current President of the International Society of Newborn Screening.

 

Dr. Bonham will be presenting “Newborn Screening in Genomics Era” Tuesday, November 19th, 2019 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. The talk will be at the John D. Wiley Conference Center located on the 2nd Floor of the Waisman Center. Further information is provided in the attached links.

 

Dr. Bonham is the national laboratory lead for newborn screening in the UK. The UK screens 750k babies pa for 10 disorders in 16 screening laboratories. Dr. Bonham led the recent expansion of newborn screening in the UK and has co-ordinated several research projects in the field of newborn screening. Up until 2015 he was the Laboratory Director of Newborn Screening at Sheffield Children’s Hospital in northern England and he was recently elected as the President of the International Society of Newborn Screening. He has a particular interest in the quality of newborn screening as it impacts on operational practice and initiatives leading to an improved parental/family-based understanding of screening results.
