Dr. Kristen Suhrie is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine, where she also directs Perinatal Genetics and serves as an attending neonatologist at Riley Hospital for Children.
Her work focuses on the impact of genetic diseases on NICU patients and improving access to genomic services for critically ill newborns. At Riley Hospital, her team has implemented genome sequencing for 1100 out of 1500 NICU admissions annually, leading to significant cost savings and reduced patient stays.
Dr. Suhrie holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Memphis and an M.D. from the University of Tennessee. She completed further training in pediatrics, radiology, and neonatal-perinatal medicine. Her career includes roles at Hamot Women’s Hospital, the University of Pittsburgh, and the University of Cincinnati. She is board-certified in General Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and has received several professional honors, including the Neil Buist Award. Dr. Suhrie is deeply committed to advancing neonatal care through genetic research and innovation.
