The Kisat Lab is a translational research laboratory at the intersection of trauma surgery, sepsis, and microbial genomics. My lab is in the Center for Human Genomics and Precision Medicine and based in the Division of Acute Care and Regional General Surgery. We are focused on developing novel genomics-enabled diagnostics to allow for early recognition and treatment of sepsis and rapid de-escalation of antibiotics in injured patients. We have an ongoing observational study, “Sepsis in Trauma” for which we collaborate with the Office of Clinical Research in the Department of Surgery for patient screening, enrollment, blood sample collection and initial processing of blood samples. The incumbent will implement and develop molecular methods for DNA and RNA isolation, preparation and analysis of next-generation sequencing libraries, quantitative PCR, digital PCR and other related technologies for analysis of nucleic acids from plasma samples. In addition, they will be responsible for providing administrative leadership in the laboratory.
